Honolulu Cruises

Honolulu is an absolute must-visit on a cruise around Hawaii. It is situated on the island of Oahu and is both the capital and the most populous city of the US state of Hawaii. As well as being a major tourist hotspot, the city and its surrounding area form the main gateway to Hawaii.

Honolulu is a very important city, being the financial hub of not only Hawaii but the whole Pacific. This southernmost and westernmost American city is absolutely fascinating:

  • Combines diverse east-west cultures and cuisine
  • Offers a supremely edgy art and nightlife scene

Landmarks include the only royal palace in the USA and the interesting port with its famous Aloha Tower. And of course – Honolulu is the ultimate beach resort!

  • Bright, clear waters
  • White sandy beaches
  • Lush green expanses

The whole island of Oahu is truly a paradise.

The Best Time to Cruise to Honolulu

If you want to explore the island of Oahu and Honolulu in particular, the best months to do so would be:

  • April
  • May
  • September
  • October

The weather is enjoyably mild and sunny, plus the travel rates (be it cruise, air or hotel) are at their best. Shoulder seasons are also full of festivals and not so of tourists.

Please note that all Hawaiian islands are different and the above-mentioned time may not be the best to visit the others.

Things to Do in Honolulu

As your ship docks, you will catch sight of the world-famous Aloha Tower, which has stood on Pier 9 since 1926. At the time, the tower was the tallest building in Hawaii and as such became a beacon welcoming and guiding vessels to Honolulu.

Exploring the city, check out some of our other favourite sights:

  • – Get acquainted with Hawaiian history at the ‘Iolani Palace
  • – Relax on the almost mile-long beach, that’s part of the Ala Moana Regional Park
  • – Enjoy scenic walking trails and native flora at the Lyon Arboretum
  • – Wander around Chinatown Markets and experience the hustle and bustle of the city
  • – The Foster Botanical Garden is filled with spectacular rare plants
  • – Book in advance and enjoy some of the best local cuisine at Alan Wong’s restaurant

Top Cruise Lines

Hawaii is one of the world’s most popular cruise destinations. Australians love it every bit as much as everyone else, if not more, so there are plenty of cruise lines offering itineraries sailing between Down Under and Hawaii:
