Brisbane is home to three ports. The minimalist port of Brisbane is perched on Fisherman Island floating off of Moreton Bay. The port allows for ships more than 270 metres to berth. Port of Brisbane is a 20-25 minute drive from Brisbane airport (22km) and around 30 minutes from Brisbane city centre (29km). Portside Wharf, farther up Brisbane River in Hamilton, is around 10mins from Brisbane airport (8km) and 15 mins from the city centre (10km) and only accepts smaller cruise vessels. And the third terminal is the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal which was only opened in 2021. This terminal is owned by Carnival cruises and is situated 15mins from the airport (13km) and 28 mins from the city centre (24kms). Because Brisbane is one of the primary departure port for cruises from Australia, a wide selection of cruise lines and cruise style are at your disposal. Once your dream cruise holiday is booked, you will visit a number of exotic destinations around Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, and the world.

Best Time for Cruises from Brisbane

Brisbane, the capital of the Sunshine State, is a city of booming growth, plentiful opportunity, and seemingly endless green spaces. Because of the city’s gorgeous subtropical climate, weather will be mild and dry year-round. Even the lows in during the winter months are around 11°C. We recommend that you visit Brisbane in April and May when the sunshine is high and rainfall is low. However, be warned: Crowds may be big due to the school holidays.

When you’re in Brisbane, you must visit the Streets Beach. The gorgeous lagoon lined by a white sand beach is the only inner-city, man-made beach in all of Australia. If you’re looking for something more natural, Brisbane also boasts some beaches handcrafted by Mother Nature. With its a balmy climate, friendly locals, and beautiful beaches just a stone’s throw away, Brisbane is a fantastic place to kick-start any holiday.

Cruise1st has thousands of affordable cruise deals for you to choose from. Whether you are interested in a short cruise or want to book a last-minute cruise deal, we’re certain we can help you find the perfect cruise.

11 day cruise on board the Pacific Encounter from Brisbane
couplerelaxed
P&O provide an almost-perfect experience in a range of ways: dining, shore tours, entertainment. One of the most impressive aspects were the talks on PNG history, WWII, farming and literacy. That was a real bonus and compensated for the less impressive commentary on the WWII shore tour.
The shore excursions are expensive for what is provided and the commentary on the WWII New Britain tour could have been a lot better. Our guide just didn't know enough, although P&O indicate that the guides are not highly knowledgeable. Perhaps P&O could incentivise them to read up on the subject they are covering, although one was well read. Also, the war museum is badly run down and could do with some expert curating, maybe P&O could provide some funding for this.

The cabin is well designed and the furnishings very good. It is not brand new so there is some wear and tear. The flooring on the balcony needs some work as it was uneven and I had to put a chair on the affected part to avoid tripping on it.
