Kiriwina is an island in the Milne Bay Province of Papua New Guinea and is part of the Trobriand Islands. The island is the largest of its group with an area of around 290km². Kiriwina's tiny capital, Losuia, located on the island's west coast, is the largest settlement here boasting a wharf, police station, health centre and stores. The rest of Kiriwina is dotted with small traditional villages whose inhabitants are mostly subsistence farmers.
