Monemvasia is located on a rock off the coast of Laconia. The Greek town was once a fortress and thus an important base. Settlement on the rocks began in 583 so Monemvasia is very rich in cultural treasures and historic sites.

Dubrovnik, known as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic', is one of the main tourist locations in the Mediterranean. The Old Town and its many sights is the main attraction of Dubrovnik.
