The largest settlement of Svalbard was established in the 20th century. After suffering some damages during World War II, it was again rebuilt. It is for exactly that reason that the town is very modern. The colourful houses really bring out the charm in the city. Due to the relatively temperate climate, Longyearbyen is home to many plant species which are threatened with extinction. You will also be able to observe a various species of animals here.

The Bear Island lies between Spitsbergen and North Cape in the middle of the North Sea and was discovered by two Dutch navigators. The island has belonged to Norway only since 1920, when the Svalbard Treaty was signed. Beforehand, it was officially known as "No man's land".

The North Cape is located on the island of Mageroya in Norway. The cape is Europe's northernmost point that is reachable by car. The flat plateau at the top of the 307m high cliff is extremely popular with tourists - the views of the never ending Barents Sea and the midnight sun are spectacular. The North Cape is also famous for dog sledding fun, king crab fishing and watching puffins and gannets.
