The city of Fort Lauderdale in the U.S. state of Florida and makes an ideal holiday destination. Due to the many canals in the city, Fort Lauderdale is also known as the American Venice. In the 1970's, the area was very popular with students celebrating Spring Break but these were replaced by cruise vacationers in recent years. Fort Lauderdale offers beautiful beaches, museums, the world's biggest everyday flea market and also the world's largest drive-in cinema, which has 13 screens.

The seaside city of Roseau, capital of Dominica, has a rich history. The city boasts Creole architecture from the eighteenth century, and its Old Market, which vendors now flock to to sell their handicrafts and produce, is a former site for slave auctions. Visitors can immerse themselves in the nation's history at the Dominica Museum or see the local flora and fauna at the Dominica Botanical Gardens.

Philipsburg is the capital of the overseas Dutch colony of St. Maarten. Boasting beautiful views of the Great Bay and the Great Salt Pond, it is an ideal location for a Caribbean holiday. Philipsburg is also a hotspot for bargain hunters, with a mile-long commercial district with a range of duty-free shops. The city is divided into Old and New San Juan. Old San Juan dates back five centuries and is known for its colourful buildings and old forts, which once protected the island. El Morro is a well-known fort that now houses a small military museum. At the city walls that surround San Juan is The Paseo de la Princesca, a beautiful promenade with shops, restaurants, and gorgeous views.
